Official: US can take more anti-Russia steps on Litvinenko case
WASHINGTON, Jan 22 (PRIME) -- The U.S. authorities do not rule out further actions against Russia because of a recent report by the U.K. inquiry, showing that the murder of Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko in 2006 was probably approved by President Vladimir Putin, spokesman for the White House Josh Earnest told reporters late Thursday.
"I don’t have any actions to announce today in direct response to these (U.K.) findings," Earnest said. "But I, certainly, would not rule out any relevant future steps."
Earlier on Thursday, British judge Robert Owen presented a report blaming Russian state officials for the death of Litvinenko. Russia’s Foreign Ministry said that the investigation was biased due to political reasons.
